“Ugh… It’s That Time of the Month Again.”
How many times have you said that? Or heard someone else say it? I get it. Periods rarely arrive at a convenient time. There isn’t really such a thing to be honest.
They interrupt plans.
They make us tired.
They bring menstrual cramps, bloating, cravings and mood swings.
But what if we looked at periods differently? What if your period wasn’t something to dread?
What if it was actually useful information? Because here’s the thing…
Every symptom you experience throughout your cycle is feedback from your body.
Your cramps.
Your irritability.
Your sore breasts.
Your low back pain.
Your headaches.
Your breakouts.
They’re not random. They’re your body’s way of communicating with you.
Your Body Is Always Giving You Feedback
Let’s use this scenario as an example. Imagine touching a hot pan. Your body immediately sends a pain signal to pull your hand away. You wouldn’t ignore that signal and continue holding onto the pan.
Yet that’s often what we do with period symptoms.
We push through exhaustion. Ignore cramps. Dismiss PMS. Carry on as though our body isn’t trying to tell us something. But your symptoms are information.
They can tell you:
- Your hormones are shifting
- Your period is approaching
- You may need more rest
- Your stress levels are high
- Something feels out of balance
The goal isn’t to fear symptoms. It’s to listen to them. It’s a mindset shift that will empower you and put you back in the driver seat of your menstrual health.
Two Questions To Ask Yourself
The next time your period is approaching, ask yourself:
1. What signs is my body giving me that my period is coming?
2. What can I do to support myself right now?
Those two simple questions can completely change your relationship with your cycle.
Because knowledge is power. And your body is constantly giving you knowledge.
